Michael Robert Christian

Apr 27, 1978 Jan 16, 2023

Salt Lake City, UT-Michael Robert Christian died unexpectedly in his home on January 15, 2023. He was born in Walla Walla, Washington, on April 27, 1978, to Michael and Sandy Christian, who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Morgan. He is survived by his sister, Tiffany, and four children: Jacob, Joshua, Alexander, and Addisyn.

Michael was raised in Riverside, California, before moving to the family hometown of Milton-Freewater, Oregon, in 1988. He moved to Salt Lake City in 1996 and began working as a high-rise window washer for Hi-Tech Window Cleaning. He met and married Kristi (Johns), with whom he spent 16 years.

Michael was known to his family, friends, and clients as a force to be reckoned with. Certainly he proved this when, in 2006, he fell 40 feet off a building during a routine window-washing job, severely damaging two vertebrae and his spine, and almost losing his life. Despite doctors’ predictions, Michael eventually was able to walk again with the help of his family and friends and his own sheer force of will.

Michael believed in challenging himself in the name of growth and improvement. To that end, he went back to school and earned his GED in 2007 so that he could pursue a career in the housing industry as a loan officer. He worked for several companies in the Salt Lake City area, eventually becoming Vice President at Emperiq Financial.

Michael was known as larger than life, charismatic, and forthright. He also had the biggest heart and was always willing to go the extra mile to help someone in need. When he wasn’t working he loved being outdoors riding trails and sand dunes, camping, boating, shooting guns, and taking part in any adventure he could find with family and friends. He was imaginative and creative, and he expressed that best through building things with his hands. He was curious about how things worked, whether it was a mechanical device or the formation of the universe. He also enjoyed learning about ancient civilizations. Michael went hard at life. He was very passionate about everything he did and loved to share the experiences with other people.

A viewing and funeral service for Michael will take place beginning at 12pm on Saturday, January 28th, 2023, at Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah, 84123. A luncheon will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Michael’s GoFundMe page at https://gofund.me/0fbaa6f1. Donations will be used to cover end-of-live services and to help support his children.
