Merritt Michael DeCol passed away at the age of 79 on September 12th, 2022 at St. Marks Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. He was born on August 11th, 1943 in Alexandria, Louisiana to Keith Drake DeCol & Syble Aubrey Bayham.
Mike was raised in Kearns, Utah where he met his wife, Patsy Bodine. They attended Grainger High School, where he graduated in 1961. Mike and Pat worked together at Trane Co. and were later married on March 18th, 1966 in Magna Utah. Mike and Pat soon moved to California where they had three children Michelle, Chris, and Marc.
They had an adventurous early life, moving to Virginia, England, Florida, and Wyoming with a young family, eventually settling back in South Jordan, Utah to raise their family.
Mike was a successful and dedicated salesman and sales manager, working in industrial sales, and in the trucking industry. He worked for many companies, including: Continental, Cummins Engine Company, Cummins Onan, Volvo, Lake City International, and Rush Truck Centers. His work allowed him to have a lot of great experiences and travel the world.
Mike and Pat retired and lived in Cottonwood Heights, Utah. They recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. Mike was a very loving husband and father. As a family they enjoyed boating and camping. Mike enjoyed cooking, barbequing, dining, traveling, and golfing with family and friends. Mike had a reputation for his integrity, honesty, work ethic, and love for his family. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
He is survived by: His wife Pat, Daughter Michelle, Sons Chris and Marc. He is also survived by his brothers Jimmy, and Robin, and his sisters Paulette and Marsha.
He is preceded in death by: Mother Syble Aubrey DeCol & Father Keith Drake DeCol
