Our beautiful, courageous, kind and generous daughter, sister and friend, Melissa Kay Watkins, died unexpectedly on December 7, 2021. She was born on August 2, 1982 to Hubert Lee and Sherie Watkins. She graduated from West Jordan High School and later earned her RN as well as her BS in Information Technology Management.
While her time on earth was cut way too short, she lived a very full and adventurous life. She was a fiercely loyal protector and generous to a fault. She was always helping others, whether human or animal. While she faced many challenges in life, she was victorious and open about the lessons she had learned and was always an example of strength and persistence. She was a bright light and saw the bright side in everything. Melissa was extraordinarily positive. She lived in the moment and loved wherever she was and whatever she was doing. She was simply a joy.
In her final act of generosity, Melissa was an organ donor.
She is survived by her parents, sisters- Wendy (Jim) Remley and Jillian (Michael Thompson), her grandmother (Jane Painter), five nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and her love, Joshua McDermaid.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 13th at 11:00 am, with a viewing one hour prior from 10:00 to 10:45 at the West Jordan Stake Center (2700 W 7000 S). There will be a viewing the night before, Sunday December 12th, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Memorial Redwood Mortuary located at 6500 S Redwood Rd.
Hold your loved ones just a little bit closer and in honor of Melissa, do an act of kindness for someone.
