Maxine Erickson Stewart, 85 years old, passed away on May 15, 2023. She died in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Maxine was born on November 9, 1937 at the Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the oldest daughter of Max Reynolds Erickson and Mildred Wood Erickson.

Maxine's younger siblings were Larry, Carol, and Verna. She loved the Lord and reading the scriptures.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints beginning with her baptism in 1945 and continuing for the rest of her life.

She was a homemaker and (later) a bookkeeper. And loved to cook and bake. She made wonderful sugar cookies for all the holidays.

In 1979, Maxine earned her Associates Degree (A.D.) from the Salt Lake Community College in Bookkeeping. She graduated with high honors. And she followed in the family tradition in becoming an accountant.

She loved to go the temple, and was also a Temple Ordinance Worker in the Jordan River Utah Temple. She was an avid sports fan and loved to watch The University of Utah and BYU games on TV.

She married Arland Mark Stewart on September 18, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. They were later divorced.

Maxine and Arland had six children together:

1) Mark Stewart.

2) Beth Stewart. Beth married Bill Carter. Children (Katie and Kerri):

Katie married Joe Corcione. Children (Sierra and Kobi).

Sierra married Logan Randall. Children (Kayden and Talon).

Kerri married Brandon Kirk. Daughter (Phoenix).

3) Marian Stewart. Marian married Rick. Children (Natalie, Nathan, and Brandon). Marian and Rick were later divorced.

Natalie married Mike Anderson. Children (Taylor, Braden, and Katelyn).

Nathan married Natalie. daughter (Shayla).

4) Jeanine Stewart. Jeanine married Emil Therianos. Children (Joy, Noah, Elaina, and Tegan).

Joy married Michael Zwahlen. Children (Colten, Merrick, Sarah, and Tobias).

5) David Stewart. David married Donna. Son (Jason).

6) Chris Stewart.

Maxine raised her children with tremendous love and care. She taught them to live their lives as honest, kind, honorable people.

Maxine was affectionately called "Mickey" by her family members and close friends.

Maxine was preceded in death by both of her parents (Max Reynolds Erickson and Mildred Wood Erickson); her brother, Larry; her daughter (Jeanine).

Maxine was survived by her sisters, Mrs. Carol Anthony of Korat, Thailand; and Mrs. Verna ("Gerry") Bennion of Salt Lake City, Utah. She was also survived by five of her children, Mark; Beth; Marian; David; and Chris.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123. Viewings will be held Thursday, May 18, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, and Friday prior to the graveside service beginning at 11:00 AM at the same location. Interment will immediately follow at the same location.
