It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Matthew David Troy. Matt was born in Korea on March 17, 1970, and much to the delight of his parents and siblings came to his forever family in the United States in 1978.
Matt spent his formative years in Cedar City, Utah, and gained lifelong friends playing baseball and football. He graduated from Cedar High School in 1990 and left home to pursue a career in hospitality and the culinary arts. He was a sous chef to some of the top Las Vegas kitchens. An amazing cook, Matt, could create the most interesting concoctions from whatever he found in the fridge.
On June 22, 1995, Matt married Emiko Nomoto (Amy) and they settled in Salt Lake City.
Matt was a wonderful husband, son, brother, and uncle. He was kind and generous and treated everyone with respect. When his nieces and nephews were young, he doted on them, spending time playing, entertaining, and caring for them. He loved all animals but had a special place in his heart for his beloved dogs. Matt suffered from severe health issues over the years but continued to be kind and loving to those around him.
Matt is survived by his wife Amy and her daughter Alexandria, parents Peter and Donna Troy, his siblings Tina (Gregory) Judd, JD (Terri) Troy, Wendee (Curt) Flanigan, nine nieces and nephews and four grandnieces and nephew.
A funeral will not be held, but a private memorial service will be arranged at a later date for the family.
