On April 11, 1970, Mary Ann married her sweetheart, David Paul Greenwood, and their marriage was sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on June 14, 1972. They began to build a life together and welcomed six wonderful children into their family.

One of her greatest trials came with the passing of her beloved husband David on November 24, 1981. Left to raise six young children on her own, Mary Ann leaned heavily on the Lord and the support of her family and friends. Life presented Mary Ann with many difficulties, but she worked hard to finish school, start a career, and provide for her family.

She shared a special bond with her mother and brother David Smith. Her mother passed away in 1984, which devastated Mary Ann, but her brother continued to be a pillar of support and love throughout her life.

So many people that associated with her, especially later in life, describe her as an amazing and caring woman, willing to give her time and talents to others to make them happy. She loved to talk with others about her children and her favorite dog, Akea.

Mary Ann is preceded in death by her husband David Greenwood, her beloved grandson Dallin Greenwood, her parents Annie and Walter Smith, her half-brother Wallace, her mother- and father-in-law, and many loved ones who welcomed her home with open arms. Her belief in the Plan of Salvation was important to her, and she looked forward to the reunion that she knew would take place when she finished her earthly journey.

Mary Ann is survived by her six children, Adam (Marta) Greenwood, Jared Greenwood, Nathan (Amber) Greenwood, Matt (Julie) Greenwood, Rachel (Ben) Bush, and Sara (Shayne) Larsen, as well as her 13 adoring grandchildren, and her dear brother David Smith.

Mary Ann’s legacy is one of quiet strength, unwavering love, and steadfast faith. She will be missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Mary Ann’s family would like to thank the staff at Woodland Park in Salt Lake City, as well as several friends that have cared for her for many years.

A viewing will be held Friday, September 27, from 10-10:45 AM, in the mortuary building at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park at 3401 S. Highland Drive, followed by graveside funeral services at 11:00 at the same location. Interment will follow at Wasatch Lawn, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, David, and her parents.
