Marsha Dorine Catmull Redd

May 5, 1948 Aug 23, 2026

Marsha Dorine Catmull Redd, age 78, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, in Taylorsville, Utah, on August 23, 2026. Marsha was born on May 5, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Dorsal J. Catmull and Jacqueline Kimball Catmull. She was sealed for time and all eternity to her loving husband, George Edwin Redd III, in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 24, 1968. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Marsha lived a life devoted to beauty, creativity and the arts. She had impeccable taste and a distinctive sense of style, and taught her children to appreciate art, music and the beauty found in nature, values they continue to carry forward.

A lifelong artist, Marsha expressed herself through creativity in many forms and continued painting, including watercolors in her final days. Though soft-spoken, she possessed a quiet wit that endeared her to family and friends. Marsha also cherished the companionship of animals, especially cats, and rarely passed up an opportunity to welcome one into her home.

Music was one of her earliest and greatest passions. She studied music at Ricks College (BYU-Idaho) and became an accomplished pianist, soprano, church organist and music teacher. For many years, she sang with the Salt Lake Symphonic Choir and performed in musical productions including Porgy and Bess and Handel's Messiah. Her rendition of O Divine Redeemer was known to bring congregations to tears. She generously shared her love of music by teaching piano to her children and many others throughout her life.

After a life-altering diagnosis of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, she relied on supplemental oxygen and lost the ability to sing. We find peace in knowing she has found her voice again and now can sing with a choir of angels.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, George Edwin Redd III; their three children, George E. "Winn" Redd IV (Deana), Jay K. Redd (Brian), Mandy A. Hill (David) and her adored grandchildren Brenden and Kira. She was preceded in death by her parents.

The Redd family would like to thank the many hospice care workers who cared for Marsha in her last months, especially Maggie, Heather and Zandra, and express their deep gratitude for the thoughtful kindness of their neighbors, friends, and others, who gave their hearts and time over the years.

A viewing will be held Saturday, September 5, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. with a funeral to follow immediately at 10 a.m. at the Murray Utah North Stake Center, located at 5200 S. Glendon St. (700 W.), in Murray. Interment will follow services at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S., in Sandy.

The family recommends that donations be made to the Humane Society of Utah in Marsha's memory.
