Marlys Pauline Keck Hewett passed away peacefully on August 1, 2022 at the age of 87. Marlys was born in Lisbon, North Dakota on November 3rd, 1934 to Emil Keck and Olga Tesch. She grew up in Alexandria Minnesota and after graduation in 1954 she went into nurse training and worked at Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria. In 1974 she attended Weber State University in Utah and completed her bachelor's degree in 1976. She went on to complete her masters degree in 1997 at Weber State where she taught many nursing students until she retired in 2009. She married Howard N. Hewett on June 7, 1975 at St. John's Lutheran Church and they were together until his passing on March 10, 1995. She loved to travel, especially her trips back to Minnesota to visit with her dear family and friends.

She loved to host dinners for her family on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. She loved taking her grandson to places of learning. She also loved rodeos and fireworks. She loved eating out with family at places like Olive Garden, Village Inn, Golden Corral and Sizzler.

As a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church she was very involved there until her health declined. She had so many friends that she truly loved. Right up until her passing, there were many who reached out and helped her and her family in many ways including her dear friend Ruth. She was grateful for their love and friendship and will be missed by all. The family wishes to express appreciation to the staff at Truewood Assisted Living and the doctors who provided for her care while there.

She is survived by her adopted son James (Diane), grandson Benjamin, Sister Arlene Lyman, Brother Charles Keck (Barb) and other nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents, sister Gloria Whiting and husband Howard.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday August 13th, 2022 11:00 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 8575 South 700 East, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
