Marlene Bertha Lasher

Jan 11, 1941 Jan 23, 2024

Marlene passed away January 23, 2024 peacefully at home, surrounded by her family and enveloped in love.

Born January 11, 1941 to Harold and Helen Bluhm, Marlene was the oldest of four children. She lived a vicarious and adventurous life. Growing up at the creamery her father owned in Howard Lake Minnesota, she forged memories that have lived on through her tales she shared with anyone who would let her talk their ear off.

She had many ventures after attending college, but her greatest venture was meeting and marrying her soulmate Gerald “Jerry” Lasher. Together they found an extraordinary life, becoming parents to their three children. They enjoyed making memories such as road trips back east, camping, hunting and eventually becoming grandparents. After Jerry’s unexpected passing, she faced life’s challenges head-on with a tenacity that was unmatched. Many years later, she married long time friend Denis Butzen and cared for him until his passing.

She enjoyed telling stories from her past and discussing the royal family, watching Young and Restless, Ancient Aliens, Skinwalker Ranch and Perry Mason. Spending time with her grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great grandkid reading and having them teach her stuff they learned. All her grandbabies from the oldest to the very youngest were her entire world. Eating all the sweet treats and laughing. Going to Wendover on the fun bus and eating at the seafood buffet was her idea of a perfect Friday night.

While she worked in many different careers, she did so with dedication and determination. She finally retired in December 2021 after almost 15 years with Wal-Mart.

Marlene loved with a depth that was deeper than the oceans. She spread joy everywhere she went and everyone adored her, claiming her as their grandma. Her infectious smile rivaled all the stars in the universe.

Marlene is survived by her children Barbara Lasher, Neil (Joanne) Lasher, Charlotte(Travis) Ringlee, grandchildren Kerrie(Ira), Kathy(Ron), Melissa(Joe), Amanda, Chauntel(Jake), Ryan, Tacy, Tyler, Sage, Ziva, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Siblings Ginger(Don), Phil(Laurie) and countless family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Harold and Helen Bluhm, sisters Carol and Debbie, Husband Gerald “Jerry” Lasher, Second Husband Denis Butzen, Granddaughter Courtney Wagstaff.

Marlene’s passing has left a void in the hearts and lives of all who knew and loved her. We all hope to have a small sliver of her vivaciousness and love instilled in us.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Intermountain Hospice, especially her nurse Melissa, for their support not only for Marlene, but the family as well.
