Marlene E. Shire, age 88, passed away on April 3, 2026, in Sandy, Utah. She was born on July 18, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Earl Glenn Blakley and Repha Elise Gregory Blakley. She married Robert Ralph Shire on July 20, 1968.

Marlene dedicated 41 years of service to Parker Packing, retiring at the age of 72. She shared 32 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Robert. She enjoyed taking trips on the Le Bus to Wendover, where she loved trying her luck on the slot machines and celebrated several jackpots over the years. Marlene cherished time spent with her dear friend Glenna and her family, and she found great enjoyment in listening to audiobooks. In her younger years, she was an avid bowler.

She is survived by her children: David (Katherine) Krogh of Virginia; Wendy Krogh of West Jordan; and Robin (Shane) Stewart of Lake Point; five grandchildren, Torie, Megan, Morgan, Mackenzie, and Megan; and one great-grandchild, Jude.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Repha Blakley; her brothers, Ronald Blakley and Harold Blakley; and her beloved husband, Robert R. Shire.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
