Mark Edward Robertson was born in Salt Lake City on December 11, 1954, to Barbara Joan Hata and Allen Keith Robertson. He was the fifth of six children. Athletic and fearless from an early age, Mark lived life boldly and with determination, always taking it by the horns, excelling in all he did.

On May 20, 1978, he married Beverley Corey. Together, they had two beautiful sons: Anthony (Tony) Edward , followed a year and half later by Alex Christopher. Although Mark and Bev later divorced, their shared dedication to their sons remained strong, and they maintained a lasting friendship rooted in mutual respect.

In 2007, Mark was diagnosed with an invasive form of cancer and given 3 to 5 years to live. But in true Mark fashion; headstrong, stubborn, and full of spirit, he defied every expectation and lived 18 extraordinary years beyond that prognosis.

Mark approached life with intention and care. He was meticulous in all he did both at home and work. He transformed his backyard into a true oasis. Palm trees and tropical plants flourished under his watchful eye, carefully nurtured through the winter so they could shine in the summer beside his beautiful pool. Every detail reflected Mark’s creativity, pride in craftsmanship, and love for creating spaces where people felt welcome.

A master electrician by trade, Mark worked for years for Big D Construction. But his real legacy is the life he built full of loyalty, laughter, generosity, and fierce love for his friends and family. He was a consummate host and an unwavering protector of the underdog, always ready with a story, a drink, or a helping hand.

A heartfelt thank you to the Jon Huntsman Cancer Institute for their unwavering dedication, compassion, and exceptional care. Your commitment made a world of difference.

He is survived by his son, Tony and wife Lora, grandchildren: Riley (Jade), Kade, Drew, Jacob, Anthony, Donald, and Bridget, his siblings Perry, Deborah (Jeff) McCarthy, Kitt and wife Laurel, and his sister-in-law Susan. He also leaves behind Uncle Chuck Ewing (who was more like a brother than an uncle), numerous nieces and nephews, and his cherished friends and good neighbors. Mark was preceded in death by his father Allen, mother Barbara, stepfather Paul Phillips, brother Michael, sister Barbara Colleen, and son Alex.

Celebration of life will be on Saturday, June 14th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Mark's home in Sandy. Friends and family are welcome. Come as you are (casual attire); share a story, raise a glass, and help us remember Mark the way he would have wanted: with warmth, laughter, and love.
