Marjie Beth Bunnell Peterson passed away surrounded by family on February 23, 2022, following lingering complications from abdominal surgery. She was 76 years old.

Marjie was born August 28, 1945, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Alton Leroy and Carol Lucille Roberts Bunnell. She was the oldest of 6 children. At an early age, Marjie cared for her siblings while their mother was busy managing properties. She graduated from East High School and continued her studies at BYU, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked many years in labor and delivery and as a home health care nurse.

It was at BYU where Marjie met the love of her life, Dennis Wayne Peterson. After his return from a mission in France, they married August 30, 1968, in the Salt Lake City Temple. They had four children: Brad, Jeff, Wendy, and Heidi. Dennis served as a dentist in the Army and took Marjie and the family all over the United States and eventually to Germany for three years. After this time, they settled in Salt Lake City for the rest of their lives.

Marjie was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her simple faith in God was beautiful. Her testimony of the Gospel and the sweet prayers she offered were filled with hope and faith.

With an amazing love of life and adventure, “Granny”, as her grandchildren and eventually everyone called her, loved others as Jesus Christ did. She was a true example of charity. She cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren. All who met Marjie adored her. Marjie’s genuine compassion for others cannot be expressed in words. She loved collecting shells at the beach and anything to do with water and swimming. She enjoyed pizza and french fries, and was continuously in search of the perfect onion ring.

Marjie is survived by children Brad (Kim), Jeff, Wendy, and Heidi, seven grandchildren, Brielle (Jake), Andrew (Breanna), Jessika (Matt), Bryce, Joshua, Mariah, Hannah, brothers Craig, Bob (Jann), Mike, and sisters Bonnie (Randy), Barbie (Bill), and brother-in-law Wally. She leaves behind a legacy of great fun, joy, compassion, and love for life.

Marjie has been reunited with her sweetheart Dennis and is enjoying walks with her honored mother Carol. She will continue to share her strong testimony of Jesus Christ and His Gospel to those around her.
