Marilyn Rueckert Nye, born May 8, 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Leonard Christopher and Lela Barlow Rueckert. Marilyn returned home to the loving arms of her husband on May 17, 2024 in Sandy, Utah.

Marilyn married Charles Donald Petersen on June 22,1956, then later divorced in 1974. She later married John Fred Nye on August 21, 1976 and they sealed their marriage in the Jordan River Temple on May 17, 1994.

Marilyn was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she held the position of Young Women’s President, Ward Organist, Primary Pianist, Primary Teacher, Relief Society President, Ward Choir Pianist, and Visiting Teacher.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Marilyn was a talented organist and pianist. She loved to read, was passionate about politics and loved spending time with her family and friends.

Marilyn’s first job was with Cummins Intermountain Diesel as executive secretary to the executive chairman and legislator Warren Pugh. She then worked for Fuel Injection and then later worked for Rust Automation where she was an office manager until her retirement in 1999.

Marilyn is survived by one son Bryan Mark Petersen (Debbie), and one daughter Lori Kay Petersen Scow (Eddie). Four stepsons Mitch, Greg, Mark and Ira Nye. One sister Carol (Bill) Haslem. She is proceeded in death by her parents, her beloved husband John, two sisters Joyce and Marjory, granddaughter Lacey Nye, and Grandson Shay Lamoreaux.

There will be a viewing at Anderson & Goff Mortuary in Draper, Utah at 11859 S 700 E on May 28, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on May 29, 2024 at Mt, Jordan 3rd Ward located at 8950 S 400 E in Sandy, UT at 11:00 am. Viewing will be held prior from 10:00-10:45 am. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens at 1950 E 10600 S in Sandy, UT.
