Marianne Tobler Hunt

Marianne Hunt, age 75, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2024 in Murray, Utah while surrounded by family after suffering a stroke the day before. She was born in St. George, Utah on July 20, 1948 to Kenneth Ralph and Audrey (Paxman) Tobler. She graduated from Rancho High School in North Las Vegas in 1966. She met her eternal companion, Bruce LaMont Hunt, while attending Brigham Young University and they were sealed for time and eternity in the St. George Temple in 1971. She graduated from BYU in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Child Development and Family Relations.

Marianne was the embodiment of Christlike love and charity and will be missed by everyone who knew her. Marianne was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to everyone she came in contact with. She immediately loved you and loved everything about you even before she knew anything about you. Everyone claimed to be her favorite because she made everyone feel like they were indeed her favorite.

Marianne was the perfect example of motherhood. She devoted her life to raising her three sons and two daughters using the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ in which she fervently believed. She excelled at her chosen profession as a mom and never looked back on this choice. When each of her children married she refused to refer to their spouses as in-laws and instead accepted them as her own children.

Marianne's beloved mother, Audrey, passed away before Marianne gave birth to the first of her five children. This inspired her to double her efforts when she was called to be a grandma, and she dedicated her life to her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent her time attending their life events, creating handmade gifts for them, and shopping for things to make their lives more enjoyable. Her lesson was that your favorite things are meant to be shared because perhaps they will enrich others’ lives as much as they enrich yours.

Marianne was a stalwart servant of Jesus Christ throughout her life. She served with passion and fervor in various callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and her husband were called to preside over the Wisconsin Milwaukee Mission between 2004 to 2007. Marianne was hesitant to leave her precious grandchildren, but faithfully accepted the call. She loved serving the people of Wisconsin, especially the four hundred-plus missionaries she adopted as her own.

Aside from her family, her favorite place to be was in the temple. She served diligently for years at the Jordan River and Draper Utah Temples as an ordinance worker. Marianne was always ready to share with anyone the enriching experiences and peace she felt while serving in the temple. She always felt close to her family and her Savior while working there.

Marianne is survived by her husband, Bruce, her brother Scott Tobler (Carla), sons Matthew (Stephanee), Rhett (Stephanie), Jeffrey (Diane), and daughters Laura Dawes (Michael), and Emily Kuntz (Adam), as well as 24 grandchildren (with two on the way), and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27th at the Old Mission chapel at 1433 Old Mission Road in Sandy, Utah. The viewing will be at the same chapel on Friday, January 26th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, January 27th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Interment will be at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 E Bengal Boulevard. Services are under the control of Memorial Mortuaries & Cemeteries.
