Marian Koenig passed away peacefully January 2, 2022. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 3, 1957, to Werner and Christa Koenig. She was the youngest daughter of six children and lived in her childhood home most of her life.
Marian’s incredible mind and thirst for knowledge fed her particular interest in biology and human science; always willing and eager to share her learnings with family and friends. Marian is a graduate of the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in English. While pursuing her education and career, she worked for the LDS and University of Utah Hospitals. Marian particularly enjoyed physical exercise outdoors, loved her daily walks (rain or shine), caring for animals, and reading. She loved to knit and crochet, making a variety of beautiful sweaters, hats, and blankets. Most recently Marian said, “When I receive phone calls and visits, it makes me feel loved and part of the family.” Family and friends were an important part of her everyday life, regularly connecting to loved ones was a favorite pastime. It was with dedication, love, sacrifice, and tenderness Marian cared for her mother in the final years of your life and in death she is finally reunited with her parents.
Marian is survived by her siblings Christine McKinley, Michael (Julie) Koenig, Tara (James) Evans, Werner Koenig, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents Werner and Christa Koenig, brother Georg Koenig, and brother-in-law Ted McKinley.
As a family we wish to express our gratitude and admiration to the many doctors, nurses, and medical staff that regularly interacted with and guided Marian throughout her life. Due to the rise in COVID-19 numbers, no funeral services will be held at this time. A celebration of life will be planned early spring or summer.
