Lynn was born to Henry and Helen Newman Giles in Jerome, Idaho on March 20, 1932. He was the 2nd oldest of 6 children and grew up with his siblings, Marvin, Joan (Byington), Deloy, Monte and Frank in the little rock house in Jerome. After high school graduation he joined the Air Force and served in the Philippines. Following his time in the military, he served an LDS mission to France for 2.5 years. Later, he attended the University of Utah. He met Anny Denise Rimli at a mission reunion and they married on December 22, 1960 in the Salt Lake City temple. They were blessed with 4 sons, Mark Lynn Giles, David Frank Giles, Wayne Thomas Giles and Timothy Joseph Giles. Lynn’s job with United Airlines took them to Thousand Oaks California where they lived for over 20 years. He and Ann served in the Los Angeles Temple for over 10 years. Upon retirement, they moved to Saratoga Springs, Utah in 1998. Lynn and Ann spent the next 7 years serving 3 LDS missions to the West Indies (October 1998 - October 2000), France Toulouse (November 2001 - May 2003) and Madagascar Antananarivo (January 2004 - June 2005). Together they were frequent temple patrons in the Mount Timpanogos temple, often doing sealings. Ann passed away on Feb 1, 2018. Lynn married Lila Staley and she passed away on March 3, 2023. One of Lynn’s greatest joys was seeing the Saratoga Springs LDS Temple built practically in his backyard.

A lifelong and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lynn found strength and solace in his religious beliefs. Lynn enjoyed genealogy and was considered an expert in family history and taught many classes on family history. He served in many church callings including as a bishop, in a stake presidency, on several high councils, and Family History Center Director. His hobbies were family history, church service, gardening and watching BYU football games.

Lynn is survived by his sons Mark (Teresa) in West Jordan, Utah, David (Karen) in Sparks, Nevada, Wayne (Sarah) in Singapore, and Tim (Laura) in Eagle Mountain, Utah, his 11 grandchildren, Brock, Dallin, Sam, Abby, Ben, Sarah, Luke, Ellie, Matthew, Nico and Kimmy and his 4 great-grandchildren, Harper, Leo, Kambri and Crew. Also his brothers, Frank and Monte.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Marvin, Deloy, Joan, and his wives Ann and Lila.
