Lynn Eddie Frisby

Lynn Eddie Frisby of American Fork, Utah, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday February 23, 2024. He was 86 years old. Lynn was born on December 13,1937 to Gerald and Camilla Frisby in Payson, Utah as the fifth of seven children. He spent much of his youth in the mountains above his beloved Payson hunting, fishing, camping, or simply "putterin' around." After suffering two severe bouts of Rheumatic Fever in his teenage years and being told he would not live past 40, Lynn defiantly lived a full, active life with few major health complications.

Eventually, Lynn began dating fellow Payson resident Suzanne Ivory, and would often joke that she only liked him for his Mercury Coupe. The two were married in the Logan Temple on August 5, 1959.

Mechanically-inclined, Lynn trained at Utah Technical College then worked as a machinist for a number of Utah companies, including Galigher, Valtek, and Geneva Steel, where he assumed management duties. His work relationships became decades-long close friendships. Whether at work or at home, if he was not fixing something, he was building something else.

Lynn, lovingly referred to as "Homer," shared his love for the outdoors with his children by taking them on camping trips, vacations, fishing, and woodchucking. He never went anywhere without a camera dangling around his neck or a video camera on his shoulder, always insisting the family stop for pictures. Lynn often had a dog by his side, usually named Jack or Prince. He had a deep love of country music, and if he wasn't listening to Johnny Cash or Merle Haggard, he was probably talking about them.

As a favorite pastime, he and his work buddies would haul their families to Canyonlands and spend a week taking their trucks up hills, over rocks, and through creeks. It seemed there was nothing more fun than driving, breaking, then fixing trucks.

After retirement, Lynn spent time serving: He served in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple baptistry for nine years, in the Bishop's Storehouse, as a part-time missionary at the Dan Peterson School Special Needs Seminary, volunteered at Thanksgiving Point Gardens, and helped friends and family as needs arose. He also kept busy building birdhouses, feeding and watching birds, building sheds and coops, and creating a charming and magical back yard filled with flowers, trees, vegetables, and antiques.

The joy Lynn felt spending time with family only increased as his five daughters were married, bringing along grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was sincerely interested in their lives and expressed his love for them in his own unique way of teasing, offering something from the meat drawer of the fridge, or insisting they have a Coke. Everyone loved being invited to one of grandpa's backyard barbecues.

Lynn is survived by his wife Suzanne, four daughters: Annette Paxman (Keldon), Carolyn Johnson (Steve), Janet Allred (Mike), Kristen Corey (Adam), 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and brother Brent. Lynn was preceded in death by his daughter Joan and granddaughter Mallory.

Please join us in celebrating Lynn's life at his Funeral Service, which will take place at the American Fork 33rd Ward,1305 North 100 East, American Fork on February 27, 2024, at 11:00 am. Prior to the service, a Public Viewing will be held at the same Ward starting at 9:45 to 10:45 am. After the service, Lynn will be laid to rest at the American Fork Cemetery, 600 North Center Street in American Fork, UT on the same day.
