Loris “GG” Malstrom Nielsen

June 30, 1937 – September 24, 2021

Loris “GG” Malstrom was born on June 30, 1937, to Glenn Leon and Alice Henrietta Malstrom in Sandy, Utah.

She passed away from dementia on September 24, 2021, after spending years in the loving care of her family and her home healthcare workers, Rosa and Aubrey.

See you for coffee in the morning.

Loris spent her childhood on the Malstrom family farm in Sandy, which she spoke fondly of until the day she could no longer form sentences. She loved getting ice cream and driving to the old farmhouse on 700 East. We would wheel her up to the driveway and she would lovingly place her hand on the brick and talk to the house.

Loris, along with her older sister Janice, often played with the "Ferguson kids" while growing up. Towards the end, she thought about and missed the Ferguson kids. She often spoke fondly of their adventures and that she hoped to see them and the farm again.

She attended Jordan High School. It was during high school that she met her dear friend Judy. They had a bond that outlived marriages, homes, and careers.

Loris raised four children: Tim, Dennis, Malinda, and Misty. She worked two jobs to ensure that her children's needs were satisfied and that holidays would be great. She was a coach for youth sports which she neither cared for nor understood; she helped craft home economics projects; and she was a den mother for the boy scouts. She was a master at making the best homemade playdough using a recipe we now wish we had saved. She never objected to sitting on the floor to color and always made sure to have the best coloring books and pencils on hand.

She endeavored to be a good mom, daughter, sister, grandmother, and a great-grandmother. We miss her terribly.

Loris is reunited with daughter Misty; son Dennis; sisters Carol Ann and Janice; brothers Frank and Glenn; her parents; good friend Jerry and the Ferguson kids.

She is missed by her daughter Malinda and son-in-law Dave; son Tim; countless grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as her dogs, Max, Lizzie, and Taz.

Due to COVID recommendations, a small private funeral has been held.
