Lona Lou Evans Boswell, born on December 16, 1928, peacefully passed away in her sleep in Mesa, Arizona on July 24, 2023, at the age of 94.
Born to John Reese Evans and Catherine Estella Durfee Evans. Lona had fond memories of her early life in Arizona. She grew up in a very large and loving family, which remained of great importance to her throughout her entire life. On May 2, 1952, she married Evan Boswell in the Mesa Arizona Temple, and together, they raised 8 children: William (Bill), Kenneth, Janice, Denis, Keith, Brent, Craig, and Gary. Their family grew to include 36 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Working at Mountain Bell Telephone company for 41 years, Lona's dedication shone through. Known for her charity and warm hospitality, her home with Evan was a welcoming haven for others. Lona and Evan helped many families by opening their doors to others, including families from other countries.
She found joy in gardening, sewing, singing, baking, and collecting cookbooks. A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lona held various callings, including Relief Society President and serving a Family History Mission in Chicago with her husband, Evan.
Survived by her loving family, Lona's presence will be greatly missed. A viewing will be held at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary on August 18, 2023, from 6 pm to 8 pm.

A ton of Great memories from being a young man at Uncle Ev and Aunt Lonas home. Big climbing tree, Huge garden and vegetables (my dad always talked about the delicious corn) Sunday afternoon visits and gospel discussions. Family activities and fun.
I know that both Uncle and Aunt Boswell knew that Jesus was the Christ and that God our Heavenly Father is our Father. I loved their testimony and appreciated it the older I grew.
I spent most of the time with Keith, Janice and Denis
Our prayer is that God will bless each of you and comfort you in the thoughts and remembrance of your mom greeting again aunt Erma Ruth and her brother and sisters and those family members who have gone before. I know they all loved each other deeply.
Thinking of you,
Marty and Kathleen Evans (Arthur and Phyllis's son)
