Lon Dale Secrist

Feb 21, 1948 Mar 15, 2024

With heavy hearts, and a profound sense of loss, we bid farewell to a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and friend. Lon Dale Secrist passed away peacefully on Friday March 15, 2024 of heart failure. He was born on February 21, 1948 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He was adopted 8 months later by proud parents Keith Moroni Secrist and Lily Howard Tuttle Secrist.

Lon was raised in Bountiful, Utah. He graduated from Viewmont High School in 1966 where he served as the school’s first student body president. He served an honorable LDS mission in the Eastern States Mission, spending most of his time in New York State. Upon return, he served in the Air National Guard where he was awarded Outstanding Airman of the year in 1971. While in the Air National Guard he met John Beckstead, his future brother-in-law, who introduced him to the love of his life Ann Margaret Beckstead. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple August 14, 1970. He attended the University of Utah where he graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Finance. After graduation he began a successful career in business as an entrepreneur that spanned over 50 years. He dearly loved all the friendships, partners and associations he made throughout his career.

He is survived by his wife Ann, his 3 children: Ryan (Amie), Jenny Robison (Jeremy), Phillip (Aimee) and his pride and joy 10 grandchildren - each one his favorite! He is preceded in death by his parents Keith and Lily Secrist, brother Lee Secrist and grandson Casen Secrist

Lon dedicated his life to the service of others, never worrying about himself. He was a friend to everyone. He had a positive impact on every person he met. He quietly went about helping others on a daily basis and his generosity and kindness were unmatched. Even as he was struggling with health, some of his last thoughts and wishes were making sure his wife and all the kids were taken care of. He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he held many church callings and service assignments. His favorites were the times he spent with the young single adults. He had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and eternal families.

Lon loved spending time with his family. His greatest joys came from his wife, children and grandchildren. He spent all his time making sure each of them were loved and taken care of. He leaves behind a special legacy that will be felt for generations.
