On the sunny morning of September 14, 2023 mom slipped from this world into heaven after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Lois was born on September 3rd, 1931 to George Z. & Catharine White Aposhian. She grew up with three brothers (who enjoyed teasing her), and many cousins as her best friends. She was a feisty little girl.

Lois attended Sherman Elementary, Olympus Junior High, and was a proud graduate of Granite High School. After graduation, she worked for the Church as a secretary to general authorities Harold B. Lee and Bruce R. McConkie.

She met her future husband, Glade S. Bigler, at a church dance activity. They were married on September 4th, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Mom lived on the same acre of ground in Millcreek for more than 90 of her 92 years. After her marriage, the Navy took them to San Diego and Hawaii for a short time. After returning to Salt Lake City, they built their first home on a plot of ground next to her parents. There they raised 5 children, a garden, and fruit trees. Eighteen years ago, they built a beautiful new home in the orchard behind their house.

Mom loved her family. She was a great homemaker and always had a home cooked meal on the table at 5:30 pm. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were dear to her heart. She lit up when they came to visit.

Mom loved to do jigsaw puzzles and passed that love on to many of her family. Mom was especially proud of her Armenian heritage and enjoyed association with her Aposhian, Orullian, and Plowgian cousins.

Lois was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints, serving happily in any calling, whether it be Primary, Young Women or Relief Society. Lois and Glade served missions to the Utah State Prison and the Wandamere Ward. They also served as temple workers in the Salt Lake temple.

After her children were grown, Lois attended beauty school and received her cosmetology license. She loved doing hair for her friends in the neighborhood.

Lois is survived by her 5 children: Cathy (Randall) Redd, Nadine (Kevin) Hancey, Elaine (Arnie) Richins, Thad, & Pat (Will) Giles. She is also survived by her posterity of 17 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren, her brother Lawrence (Tamra) Aposhian, and sister-in-law Jeanette Aposhian, and many nieces and nephews and cousins that she loved. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Glade, her parents, brothers George Jr and Richard, and by her sister Jean.

The family would like to thank the Staff of Beehive Homes for their outstanding care of mom during her last year, and Tender Care Hospice and Angie have helped mom through her final journey in life. Thanks so much!

Her children were happy to celebrate her 92nd birthday with her recently. Way to go, mom!

Interment at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery.
