Lois Altah Switzer (nee Kenworthy), was born October 5th, 1928, in Maywood, California, and passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, November 29th, 2023, at her daughter’s home in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is survived by her sister, Wanda Lariscy; her three children and their spouses, David Switzer (Gloria), Trenda Barney (Pete) and Jack Troy Switzer (Carmen); her grand children, Liz Richards (Ben), Kara Kettle (Derek), Kristi Shimek (Steve), Spencer Barney (Kendra) and Alison Switzer; her great grandchildren Naomi, Westley, and Isabelle Richards, Cassandra Kettle, Halo Barney; and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two younger sisters.

Lois graduated from Bell High School where she met the love of her life, Jack Bruce Switzer. They were married in 1947 and remained happily married until his passing in 2016. She was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on March 31st, 1956, and was a life-long active member where she served as a primary teacher, in the relief society, and in many other capacities.

A warm, caring, and meticulous homemaker, Lois was exceptionally talented both inside and outside the home, which she loved to share, hosting weddings and other parties and events. Renowned for her baking, she loved to create pies, cakes, cookies, and other treats for family and friends. She made beautiful wedding and birthday cakes. She also loved to garden with her husband, and her garden was always beautifully tended and fruitful, providing home-canned treats for all to enjoy. But above all else, she loved her family and always made her home the center of lovely family gatherings.
