Paul Mower Passed away peacefully in his home on October 11th, 2023 in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 72.

He was born January 25th, 1951 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lenard and Billie Mower, weighing 2 pounds & 7oz, where he received the nickname 'Little Joe'. He was a fighter at the beginning and gained his strength and stubbornness at that point in life. His parents raised him & his siblings on Green Street by Liberty Park.

Paul graduated from South High School in 1969. Paul was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints he served his mission in the Washington State Area.

After his mission, Paul started working for JCPenney Co. in 1972 through 1976 as the Human Resources Manager and Operations of Retail. He then opened his own business ‘Minit Lube’, Inc. in West Valley City, where he operated auto services and maintenance. He then worked as a Senior Loss Control & Safety Specialist with Cigna Corporation for 8 years. He taught Psychology and Physical Education in the Murray and Granite School districts. He taught private tennis lessons while attending the U of U and then when the family moved to Kearns, he taught lessons through Oquirrh Park Fitness Center. He was very competitive!

Paul attended the University of Utah from 1975-1979, he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology and a Master’s Degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences.

Paul met the love of his life Diane Bird while working at JCPenny. Paul and Diane were married in the Logan Utah Temple on March 8th, 1973. They had 3 children, Megan, Mitchell (Malori), and McKenna. They have 7 grandchildren: Kavan, Teagen, Preston, McCoy, Allison, Ella May, and Jaxson.

Paul & Diane raised their family in Kearns, Utah. He was involved in the community and schools while his children were young and active in sports. He supported and attended all his children's events, sports games, dance performances, competitions, and more. He had several animals over the years and had a love for the family pets. He made sure each of his children were happy. He taught his kids the importance of hard work, how to be independent, how to fix things on their own, and how to never give up.

His hobbies include anything outdoors. He loved fishing, camping, playing tennis, basketball, baseball, ping pong, target shooting, and loved the mountains, especially Silver Lake. He enjoyed working on cars and trucks, and teaching his kids vehicle maintenance. He loved American Muscle and Mopar vehicles, cruising his motorcycles, and loved aircraft. He knew every type of aircraft and enjoyed taking his grandchildren to Hill Air Force Base.

In his later years, he enjoyed going to car shows and supporting his grandchildren in all of their activities. He was so proud of his grandchildren. He also enjoyed home teaching and visiting with people. He always had stories to tell and lots of jokes. He loved serving as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River and Oquirrh Temples for the past 17 years.

He is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren. His two brothers, John McDermott, Steve Mower, and his sister Diane Mower-Jones. He is preceded in death by his mother Billie and father Lenard.

A viewing will be held prior to the funeral services on Saturday, October 21st, 2023 from 9:30 am-11:30 am. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm at the Kearns West Stake Center located at 6175 W Borax Ave, (5820 S) Kearns, Ut 84118.

The family would like to offer a special thank you for the compassionate services from the Copper City Ward Relief Society and to the West Valley City/Unified Officers and Paramedics for their kindness and support to Diane during this difficult time.

A viewing will be held prior to the funeral services on Saturday, October 21st, 2023, from 9:30 am-11:30 am. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm at the Kearns West Stake Center located at 6175 W Borax Ave, (5820 S) Kearns, UT 84118. Interment will be held at Memorial Lake Hills Mortuary & Cemetery 10055 South State Street Sandy, UT 84070
