Larry Kent Langlois

Larry Kent Langlois passed away on July 10, 2021, at the University of Utah’s Comfort Care Center after suffering a stroke and massive brain bleed. Larry was born in the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, on June 20, 1940. The fourth of six children of Charles Vernon Langlois and Ruth Chamberlain Langlois, Larry was raised in Salt Lake City and attended South High School, graduating in 1958. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from 1960-1963 in the Argentina mission then married Karen Rydman on December 14, 1968, in the Los Angeles Temple. They had three children, Daniel, Karalee, and Jonathon, and later divorced.

Larry earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Utah, a master’s degree in Public Administration from Cal State Los Angeles, and a PH.D. in Sociology, and Marriage and Family Counseling from the University of Southern California (USC). He was the managing director of Broderick, Langlois, & Associates, located in San Gabriel California, which specialized in marriage and family counseling.

Larry loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and served faithfully in whatever he was called to. Larry was a Christ-like friend who exhibited patience, gentleness, kindness, and faith. Always modest about his personal achievements he never touted his advanced degrees and treated all with the same acceptance and interest no matter their age or station in life. He showed his bravery when he married Amy Fellows Carpenter and willingly helped raise her six children.

He was preceded in death by his parents Vern and Ruth, and siblings James, Robert (Bob), and Reed. He is survived by his children Dan, Karalee Bechtal (Jay), and John (Jessica), his wife Amy, and her children Bryon (Rebecca), Ken (Kelly), Jacob, (Danielle), Maureen Randall (Keven), Tom (Rose), and Matt (Sarah). He is also survived by his sister (Sharon), brother (Tom) as well as 19 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the North Salt Lake Utah Legacy Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 954 W 1100 N, North Salt Lake, Utah, Friday, July 16, 2021, at 11:00 am.

Viewing will be held at the church at 9:30 am for an hour prior to the funeral service. Interment at Bountiful Cemetery, 2224 S 200 W, Bountiful, Utah. Funeral service will be live-streamed. Contact Amy Langlois for more information.
