Kimberly Jeanne Tolman 1985-2017
Kimberly Jeanne Tolman was born in Stoneham, Massachusetts on January 30, 1985, and died on August 14, 2017. During a family hiking trip to Canyonlands, our sweet Kimber collapsed and passed away later in St. Mary's hospital at Grand Junction, Colorado. Kimberly was a bright light for all that knew her, positive, loving, and forever loyal. Kimberly had a teacher's heart. She graduated from the University of Utah with a BA degree in musical education and taught fifth grade at Hawthorn Academy in South Jordan and was looking forward to leading the after-school choir. She served a mission in Hartford, Connecticut and loved the people there, staying in touch with many of them. Kimberly had an incredible musical talent and used that talent to serve others, always willing to accompany singers on the piano and raise her own beautiful voice in song to uplift others. She loved these words by Handel: "I should be sorry if I only entertained them ... I wish to make them better" and Kimberly did exactly that in all her interactions. Kimberly was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in several teaching and leadership callings. She was passionate about temple attendance and went every week.
Kimberly was the happiest child on the earth. She could run like the wind. She loved running and singing out load. She loved being in her room. As her parents, we could not punish her by "sending her to her room", she would love that. She could entertain herself, read and daydream all day long.
Kimberly had one of the best laughs in our family. It was a Kimberly's amazing smile!
mashup of Minnie Mouse's laugh and someone trying to stop from laughing out loud and to keep the laugh from escaping her body.
Kimberly is survived by her parents Stephen and Jan Tolman and her siblings, Callie (Justin) Stoker, Spencer (Rochelle), Andrew, Alex (Emily), and Marcus.
We will remember and honor Kimberly at her memorial service on August 19th at 11:00 am at the LDS meetinghouse (700 W 2600 N, Lehi). A viewing will be held prior to the service at 9:00 am. She will be laid to rest near other family and the great-grandmother for whom she was named at Eastlawn Memorial in Provo. We wish to thank the doctors and nurses who took special care of her and the many friends and co-workers who have reached out to us to let us know what a positive impact Kimberly had on them. She indeed left each of us better.
