Kenneth "Ken" H Smith

Mar 15, 1946 Oct 31, 2021

Kenneth Hugh Smith was born on March 15th, 1946 in Salt Lake City, UT to Hugh and Beth Smith and to his big sister because she prayed so hard to get him here.

He spent his grade school years at Jefferson Elementary, then went on to Lincoln Jr. High, and on to South High all in Salt Lake City. While a senior he worked at the Tagra restaurant as a short order cook so he could help his parents out. He didn’t get to finish high school because he signed up to go into the Army. He served four years; three in Vietnam. He served as a gunner and a crew chief on a helicopter.

That meant he had to keep the helicopter running perfectly at all times. He had extensive training for that. He also was able to finish and get his high school diploma while in the Army.

He served valiantly in Vietnam and received many medals. He came home to the States in March 1968 and was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas till discharged. He met his wife to be in June of 1968 and they married by March of 1969. They separated on paper; but not in love and spirit in 2004.

They have three beautiful children together: Mikie, Brenda, and Kenny. He worked for the Coors Distributorship for 32 years. Then went on to work for the National Guard for 15 years as a security guard.

He loved the outdoors, He loved to hunt and fish and be with his boys. He loved Gods great outdoors. His chapel is Gods mountains and hills and valleys.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Hugh Watson Smith and Beth Ilean Iba Smith. Brother in law: Ed Todd, (Brother) and grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and other loved ones. He leaves behind three children nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He leaves behind his sister Ilean Todd of Taylorsville, UT, along with nephews and nieces and their children; and long time friend Fred Howa.

We all love you and will miss you; but only in body, but not in your spirit that makes you uniquely you.

A viewing will be held on Friday November 12, 2021 from 10 AM until Noon at Lake Hills Mortuary. Located at 10055 South State Street Sandy, UT. His service will then follow at the same location starting at Noon.

Interment will take place at Memorial Lake Hills Cemetery.
