“Joyce” as she was called, and insisted you not call her otherwise, was born July 14,1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Dean and LaZora Baum.

She graduated from West High School (SLC, Utah). She was married to Dean Hill, the love of her life and her high school sweetheart on August 18, 1953.

They immediately wanted to start their family. First came Marty, one of their 4 children. He was a tiny preemie that fit in a shoe box. Next came Melanie, Wendy and Curtis, completing her life’s dream to be the best Wife and Mother ever! And she was. She was most proud of her kids. She adored them and thought them perfect.

They moved to Denver, Colorado with Dean’s work. It was a wonderful journey to a new place with new people. After about 5 years the family was transferred back to their home and settled in Holladay, Utah. Here, the family thrived. Children growing up, graduations, weddings and starting families of their own.

Moving to Newark, New Jersey was a bitter sweet adventure, they would have to leave all their family and friends. They of course turned it into a classic journey and enjoyed the east coast with all its thrills.

Again it was time to move back home and settle down in Sandy, Utah.

Her golden years were filled with family and friends, and growing their family up to ninety one! Twenty grandchildren and sixty one great grandchildren, all of whom were immediately adored, loved and cherished.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Serving in many callings, she and dad served in the Jordan River Temple, Draper Temple and the Salt Lake Prison.

She had many hobbies over the years including making and dressing porcelain dolls. She was an accomplished seamstress, homemaker, cook, maid, advisor, babysitter, gardener, roadshow director, therapist and anything else that crossed her path.

She loved to travel with Dean. They were able to see Hawaii, Europe, Russia, Greece, Italy, and all over the United States.

Joyce was and always will be a beautiful and elegant angel on earth. She will be missed.
