Julie Reeves Schram

Nov 20, 1958 Nov 27, 2023

Julie Reeves Schram, 65, was reunited with her husband and mother when she left this life on November 27, 2023, due to complications from a brief illness. Julie was born November 20, 1958, in Cedar City, Utah, to Devon and Faith Reeves. She married Scott Schram on June 16, 1984, in the St. George Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Julie grew up in Cedar City, where she enjoyed school, church, and spending time with family and friends. She graduated from Cedar City High School in 1977 and attended Southern Utah State College (now SUU) before and after serving a mission in the Massachusetts Boston Mission from 1980-1982.

Julie graduated from SUSC in 1983 with a major in History and a minor in Reading. She taught high school in Snowflake, Arizona, and at Dixie High School in St. George, Utah, before taking a break from teaching to raise her family. She was a gifted teacher and was always teaching and tutoring, whether professionally employed or not. She taught her children and grandchildren to read before they started school and was a reading specialist and tutor to many other children in her community through the years. In 2012, she began working as a reading and ESL paraprofessional at Sunset Elementary School and absolutely loved her job. She was always telling stories about “her kids,” and loved watching them learn and grow.

First and foremost, Julie loved her family. Julie found great joy in being a wife, mother to four children, and especially grandmother to her seven grandchildren. She was also lovingly known as “Grandma Julie” to many others in her life. She spent as much time with her family as possible. She especially loved being with her family during the Christmas season, which was her favorite time of the year. She shared her joy with not only her family and extended family, but also her community by inviting guests who did not have family nearby to join her own family for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.

Her home was always the gathering place for family and friends.

Julie lived to care for and help others. She was always an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in practically every ward calling available to her. She had a gift for understanding what people around her needed and quietly met those needs through meals, phone calls, texts, cards, gifts, and in other meaningful ways. If you knew her, she found a way to serve you.

One of her greatest acts of love and service was caring for Scott as he fought a battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) before his passing in 2006. Despite this, and challenges with her own health, she never let anything stop her. She continued her life of service up to the very end, where she was able to donate organs to give others a second chance at life and have more time with their loved ones.

She is survived by her children, Heidi (Michael) Lee of Santa Clara, Utah; Hilary (Mike) Felsted, of American Fork, Utah; Holly Schram of Santa Clara, Utah; and Harrison Schram of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Owen, Lydia, Eliza, Calvin, Sullivan, Julia, and Finn; her father, Devon Reeves of Santa Clara, Utah; and siblings, Karen (Chris) DeAdder of Spanish Fork, Utah; Layne (Melanie) Reeves of Gilbert, Arizona; Neldon Reeves of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Ryan Reeves of Santa Clara, Utah.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Scott Schram, and her mother, Faith Reeves.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 4, 2023, at 11:00 am, in the Santa Clara Utah Heights Stake Center, 1705 Desert Dawn Drive, Santa Clara, Utah.

A viewing will be held Sunday, December 3, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S Bluff Street, St. George, Utah, and again on Monday from 9:30 – 10:30 am, at the stake center.

Interment will follow at the Santa Clara City Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Santa Clara-Ivins Fire & Rescue and the staff of St. George Regional Hospital, specifically the Intensive Care Unit and DonorConnect team, for their compassionate care of Julie.
