Jordan LeRoy Cox was born in Mesa Arizona on August 1st, 2001, to Holly Ann Cox and Tim LeRoy Cox. He blessed our lives for 21 years, 2 months, and 16 days, he died on October 17th, 2022, at 11:16pm. Jordan was a preemie who fought to live, and he lived his short life with such passion. Jordan was extremely curious as a kid which more times than not led to him getting into mischief, which he then often roped his four siblings and countless Cousins into. Jordan was the middle of five kids, with his older Brother Tyler, older Sister Chantelle, and younger Sisters Alexis and Madisyn. He had a soft spot for animals and bugs, as a kid he loved to catch garter snakes and spiders, which he would then terrorize his sisters with. He was always trying to accomplish things people hadn't tried before. When he was ten, I received a call from the principal at his school to tell me he needed me to come in immediately. When I got there, the principal told me that he didn't know whether to be mad or impressed, because Jordan had scaled the side of the school wall to the roof by climbing the gutter downspout-He had been a principal for 27 years. Shortly after he turned twelve, he was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome/Minimal Change Disease, which is a type of Kidney Disease. He spent a lot of these years in pain during the periods of relapse. Through it all he kept a positive attitude, even as he struggled physically and emotionally. Jordan was a talented Writer, incredible Lyricist, and amazing Artist. He was soft spoken, smart as a whip, and a watcher. He had the biggest heart! He was the kid who stood up for the underdog, even though for most of his life he was the smallest kid on the playground. He was incredibly empathetic and sweet. He never left anyone without a hug and an "I love you". He went out of his way to make sure that you knew that he loved you. Jordan is at peace now, no longer plagued by the limitations of his body and the disease that he valiantly fought for nine years.
“In all the years that have passed, there has never been another child like you. You are a marvel.”
Jordan was a bright light who will be remembered and missed by so many friends and relatives! Remember Jordan by choosing to live big every day. Live the long life he didn't get to have and live it with all of the passion possible. In lieu of flowers if you so feel inclined, please donate to the National Kidney Foundation in Jordan's name, so that one day there may be a cure for the disease that took him too soon.
We love you Jordie LaForge
