Joni Joyce Douet

Jun 28, 1974 Nov 24, 2021

Joni (Whitaker) Douet, 46, died November 24th as the result of a house fire. She was born June 28 in Agana Guam. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was very active in temple work. She was a nursery leader in her ward and the children loved her. Joni was so very kind and thoughtful and wrote many notes to those who had shown her a kindness , no matter how small. Joni loved those around her just wanted to be loved, appreciated, and have a friend. Joni was a voracious reader. She loved books by the brethren of the church and self help books and always had a stack by her that she was reading. She knew how to find a deal! What a shopper! She could find anything online and just keep looking until she found the very lowest price for the most product. There was no one equal. Her little dogs loved her and waited fir her to play with them and walk with them around the neighborhood. They had special friends they saw every day, including several bunnies, one tame and a couple wild that lived around the neighborhood. Joni made some of the most beautiful quilts you will ever see. Her grandmother taught her to quilt. She didn’t follow a pattern with her quilting. She made up her own patterns depending what she was quilting. Many of her quilts were hand embroideries and then quilted. She could do most anything, except the plumbing and given enough time she would probably figure that out too. Joni’s life may have been short but she experienced a lot in those years -a lot caused great suffering and sorrow, and some great happiness and joy She is now at rest from all the sufferings of this world, A memorial service is being held in her honor on March 5, 2022, at 11:00 AM in the Relief Society room of the LDS Chapel located at 1623 South 500 East, SLC UT 84105.
