John David Newsome of Orem, Utah passed away unexpectedly at the age of 63 on September 22, 2023. Born on December 10, 1959 in Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland, to his mother Shirley Rae Ramage and his late father John Vernon Newsome.

He is survived by son Michael Newsome, daughters Jennifer Roberts & Julie Newsome. Mother Shirley Ramage, sisters Kathy Vazquez & Rebecca Rawdon. Grandchildren Jax & Jeremiah along with several nieces & nephews. He was recently retired from the Utah State Hospital.

John or Dave, as he preferred, will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. With a lifelong passion for the outdoors, particularly the American Southwest and its many ghost towns, Dave loved the harmony of nature and watching the sunrise. He possessed a bright, humorous soul and remained fiercely independent throughout his life.

A gathering will be held to honor his life on Saturday October 7, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Paul Reams Wilderness Park - located at 1600 W 500 N, Provo, UT 84601.
