Joann Kathryn Dupree Beckmann (Biesinger) Gates passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning, September 27, 2020 at the age of 78. Joann was born November 13, 1941 to Marie Hegemeister Dupree, her father Joachim Dupree died two weeks prior to her birth. Her mother later married Reinhold (Ronald) Beckmann, who adopted Joann and her two older siblings. Joann was sealed to Joseph Robert Biesinger March 22, 1962 in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their marriage was blessed with six beautiful children. Joann and Joseph later divorced. Joann married Earl W. Gates, Sr., June 4, 2005; the two have been inseparable and have enjoyed many wonderful adventures together. Joann was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served three missions, as well as held numerous callings. She was most content performing temple work, preaching the gospel, and giving her time and talents to bless others. She adored her grandchildren and especially enjoyed showering them with gifts. Joann was a savvy shopper and used this skill to maximize her ability to give to loved ones and anyone in need. She possessed a determined spirit and pressed forward despite any obstacles she faced. Joann provided her family with not only temporal things but also an unwavering and firm foundation, rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ. She was often found studying her scriptures, going to firesides, and was always thrilled to attend BYU education week. Joann is survived by her loving husband Earl W. Gates, Sr.; her children, Pamela (Mike) Barnett, Janna Snell, Robert (Angie) Biesinger, Annette (Rory) McWhorter, Brent (Rachel) Biesinger, Kenneth (Amanda) Biesinger; her siblings, Alfred (Linda) Beckmann, Margaret (Ray) Short, David (Connie) Beckmann; over 60 grandchildren, as well as, numerous great grandchildren. Funeral Services to be held Friday, October 2, 2020 at 11 AM with viewings held Thursday, October 1, 2020 from 6-8 PM and an hour prior to the services at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints-River Oaks 3rd Ward 8825 S. 1095 W., West Jordan, Utah 84088. Interment to follow at the Elysian Burial Gardens 1075 E. 4580 S., Millcreek, Utah 84117.
