Jeffrey Hughes Ballantyne, beloved brother, uncle and friend, passed away

peacefully at home in Tacoma, Washington on August 13th, 2022 at the age of 57.

Jeff was born on December 21, 1964, the youngest of 4 children, to Dawn Elaine and W. James Ballantyne. Jeff grew up in Bountiful, Utah, graduating from Bountiful High School in 1983.

Jeff Metal (as friends knew him) had a passion for music and was an exceptionally talented drummer, playing on stage with friends for several years in bands such as Hellbender and Reaction. Later Jeff moved to the state of Washington to be close to his brother and advocate Russ, also a talented musician. There the two brothers enjoyed playing music together whenever they had the opportunity.

A die-hard Seattle Seahawks fan, Jeff attended several games with Russ and his wife Alyson. While living in Puyallup, Washington Jeff’s house was always where everyone went for tailgating and to watch the games. Go Seahawks!

Jeff also enjoyed backyard and mountain cookouts with friends and family. He had a great sense of humor, and during get-togethers would make us all laugh with his silly voices and impressions. Jeff was compassionate and thoughtful, with a big heart. He always made sure his family knew just how much he loved them.

For many years Jeff has shared a special bond and friendship with his bestie, sister-in-law Alyson. Her support of him, encouraging him to be his truest self, was extremely important to Jeff. And his family appreciates so much the love she showed him.

Jeff was preceded in death by his mother, Dawn Elaine Hughes Ballantyne and father, Willard James Ballantyne. He is survived by his three older siblings, Russell (Alyson) Ballantyne, Melanie (Mike) Jensen, and Rose (Leo) Andrews, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Jeff will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
