Jared Heinz Bruno Kobs

Oct 23, 1924 Jan 15, 2022

Jared Heinz Bruno Kobs left this world Saturday, January 15, 2022, to reunite with loved ones that preceded him in death. He is now enjoying the company of his lifelong sweetheart and wife, Ingeborg Charlotte Lauterbach; his father, Friedrich Gustav Bruno Kobs; his mother, Marie Frieda Schreyer; his sister, Irmgard Kobs; his grandson, Jeremy Randall Kobs and his granddaughter, Staci Lynn Kobs.

His incredible ninety-seven years began October 23, 1924, in Berlin, Germany. His cheerful countenance, kindness, service, and humor made the world a better place for those whose life he touched. He is renowned for remembering birthdays, his beautiful handwriting, and his delicious crumb cake. He enjoyed dating his wife, dancing with her, playing the harmonica, taking part in activities with his children, grandchildren, and neighbors. He loved to travel. Taking a vacation every year was on his “must do” list. Camping with the bugs and the rain was as grand as going on a cruise or visiting Europe. He enjoyed doing genealogy and at the top of his “to do” list was writing and sharing his life story.

He graduated from high school in Germany at fifteen, which is the typical age for finishing basic schooling. After his apprenticeship and three years of vocational college, he received his diploma for retail sales. He then attended Textile Fashion School for one year and earned certification in that field. Shortly after coming to America, he attended the Salt Lake Technical Trade School and certified as an upholsterer, which then became his career.

Mom and Dad joked about getting married three times and never having a divorce. They married civilly on June 11, 1948. Their church wedding was on July 3, 1948. Dad’s desire was to make his sweetheart feel like a princess on their wedding day, so he hired a carriage to bring her to the church. After they came to America, they sealed their marriage in the Salt Lake Temple on March 26, 1955.

Jared’s living legacy includes four children. They are Barbara Anne-Marie Kobs, Monika Roswitha Herta Kaggie (Robert), LeRoy Jared Kobs (Cindy B.), Randy Frederich Kobs (Cindy Lee), sixteen grandchildren, and forty-three great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.

Sending hugs and thanks to all the special caregivers that attended to our dad during the times that we could not be with him.
