Janet Sharron Henderson Duffy

Jul 15, 1939 Aug 4, 2020

My beloved, feisty, headstrong Scottish mother departed this life on August 4th, 2020, to join her husband, Delmore, her parents, and many family members and friends. She joined this mortal existence on July 15th, 1939, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was stubborn and funny, kind, and loving. Many people loved her dearly.

Mom loved the finer things in life – be it clothes, jewelry, purses, or shoes – she was a very stylish lady. She enjoyed going out to lunch with family and friends, which always gave her the opportunity to dress up for the occasion. She was a very accomplished seamstress and put those skills to work as a men’s alteration specialist at Castleton’s in Salt Lake City. She also worked for Smith GM Power for several years and retired from American Express.

She spent the last 30 years living in a neighborhood in West Valley; the neighbors there were extraordinary in their loving care and kindness towards her. They shoveled her driveway and sidewalks in the winter, mowed her lawn in the summer, took her to the store, fixed her car, fixed her house, gave her multiple blessings and displayed unwavering love towards her throughout the years.

She loved to serve others. She served two service missions: one at the Magna Bishop’s Storehouse and one at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, UT.

She is survived by her three children, Matt, Heather, and Adam. She is preceded in death by her husband Del, her sister Ann Duehlmeier, her brothers Fred and Bob Henderson, and her parents Mary Pryde Henderson and Fred Carrington Henderson.

A staggered viewing will be held Monday evening August 10, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Deerfield Ward, 4322 South 5400 West, West Valley, UT. A funeral service will follow the next day at 11:00 AM with a viewing one-hour prior. Interment will follow funeral services at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT. All are invited to attend her viewings and services – social distancing will be enforced. Masks are not required within the church building but are highly suggested.
