On Wednesday, May 27th 2020, Janene Gae Jansson, age 57, was swiftly and unexpectedly taken back to her heavenly home.
Janene was born July 15, 1962 to Roger Hugh and Betty Gae Thomas Jensen in Salt Lake City, Utah. As the third of eight children, Janene was like a second mother to many of her siblings who remember being cared for and toted around like they were her own babies. She came from a very close-knit family and had a special relationship with each one of her seven siblings. Any time spent with them was full of warmth and laughter. Janene grew up in Bluffdale, Utah where she was a member of Bingham High’s cheerleading squad and taught swimming lessons to many of the local children. After a semester at Snow college, she decided to attend beauty school where she found her passion. At the time of her passing, Janene had done hair for 35 years and was the owner of Heads Up Hair Design in Sandy. Her clients, many of whom had been with her from the beginning, not only loved her for her talent, but more so for the safety of a good ear they found while sitting in her chair.
Janene was a notoriously good cook, loved her puppies and enjoyed time on the green playing golf at Alpine Country Club where she served as Ladies Board of Directors and Ladies President. An adored aunt, who made sure to stay in touch and involved in the lives of each one of her nieces and nephews, she will be remembered for her pancake breakfasts after a fun sleepover and outings to the movies.
She had a firm testimony in the gospel of Jesus Christ and filled many callings at church, often sharing her musical talents with her ward members. Her most prized possession being her beautiful white grand piano, which she spent hours playing.
But above all, the role she cherished the most was that of grandmother. “Grandma Neener,” as she was affectionately called, treasured every opportunity to connect with her grandchildren. From cooking lessons, to water fights in the pool, and annual leaf raking parties, her grandkids will never doubt just how much she loved them.
A beloved daughter of God, Janene has touched the hearts of many and will be missed beyond measure. She was loved by all who knew her.
Janene is survived by her husband, Lynn Jansson; three children, Sean (Ashley) Jansson, Brett (Natalee) Jansson, and Lisa (David) Cloward; 10 grandchildren; her parents, Roger (Betty) Jensen; her siblings, Jed (Sheri) Jensen, Julie (Steve) Wanlass, Jay Jensen, Jamey Jensen, Janna (Harry) Markland, Jeremy (Amanda) Jensen, and Jeana (Spencer) Proctor.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Hugh Lyndon (Hannah Sigrid) Jensen, and Moroni Midgley (Mary Jane) Thomas.
*Due to the current rules and regulations surrounding social gatherings, a limited number of close friends and family will be attending the funeral. We know there are many more of you who wish to pay your respects and we would like to invite all who wish to join to a Celebration of Life honoring Janene on her 58th birthday.
