Jan Labrum Lehmann

Jan Labrum Lehmann, our "Mom of all the Moms," most-loving wife, grandmother, sister, and friend to all, passed away at her home unexpectedly at 80 years of age on November 7, 2022 in Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Jan was born on December 21, 1941 in Park City, Utah to parents, Alfred Dallas Labrum and Alta Florice Fuell (Labrum) Carpenter.

Jan spent her childhood living in several towns during her father's years working in the mining industry. She often reminisced of many fond memories in Park City, especially those in her teen and young adult years. She loved socializing as a waitress at Skyline Café and cheerleading at Park City High School. It was around this time Jan met the love of her life, Dave Lehmann.

Jan and Dave were married on June 18, 1960 and proved to be quite the complementary pair. Even though no formal wedding invites were sent, an overflow of guests attended the celebration to show their love and support for the new, beautiful couple. Soon after, Jan and Dave started a family of their own, totaling five children. Jan was a very loving and devoted mother, instilling many lifelong values in her children, especially to live by the Golden Rule each and every day.

In the early 1970's, Jan and Dave, Jan’s sister ArLee and her husband Glen made the ultimate life-changing decision to purchase “The Property” in the beautiful high Uintas. Unbeknownst to them at the time, this was one of the most impactful gifts the two young couples could have given their families. It was there that over 50 years of incredible memories were made - camping, late night campfires, horseshoes, snowmobiling, dirt bike riding, wine-tasting, and poker. Also, not to mention even more amazing memories were made in their small Eureka home. Some of Jan's proudest moments were during poker nights, when she would have the big winning hand. Without a doubt, her genuine, fun, and competitive nature will be sorely missed.

Later in life, Jan and Dave were able to find another place of adventure in North Carolina. While living there, she fell in love with the neighborhood squirrels and the beautiful beaches of the Outer Banks. Nevertheless, Jan’s and and Dave’s strong ties to their family brought them back to Utah where they were able to continue their life closest to those they loved.

For those who knew Jan, it was obvious she was deeply invested in her relationships. Whether it be her immediate family, extended family, or even her close friends, she was the anchor that held everyone together. It’s safe to say Jan was at her happiest alongside Dave, hosting those they loved in their home for numerous holidays, weekend “Beer:30’s,” and even random weeknights. Her countless home cooked delicious meals, personally mixed drinks, and laughter with friends and family will be forever missed. She will be forever dubbed, “The Hostess with the Mostest!”

Above all, Jan took great pride in her role as a This too shall pass mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and coworker. She enjoyed many successful years in the insurance industry, especially those at Aetna. No matter the person, setting, or struggle, she always seemed to know just what to say, providing an honest and thoughtful perspective. Jan truly was the voice of reason when it was needed the most, often quoting her favorite proverb, "This too shall pass."

Jan is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dave Lehmann, and her five children: Janean (Kevin) Tucker, Kelli (Mike) Aiello, David (Sheri) Lehmann, Lana Kershaw, and Lisa (Scott) Carroll; her ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents, sons-in-law Mark Nowers and Jason Kershaw, and last survivor of her seven siblings.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 12 at Anderson & Goff Mortuary in Draper, Utah (off 11859 South 700 East). There will be visitation from 1:00-1:45 p.m. This will be followed by a private family prayer from 1:45-2:00 p.m. To conclude, a funeral service will be conducted from 2:00-3:00 p.m. During the funeral, there will be an allocated time for an open-mic allowing anyone an opportunity to share their fondest memories of Jan.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made on Jan’s behalf to Susan G. Komen Foundation to fund continuous efforts on breast cancer research. Jan was a breast cancer survivor and adamant supporter of the breast cancer community.
