James "Jim" Bert Hickok

Jim was born in Salt Lake City, UT on April 5th, 1952, to Bert and Genevieve Hickok. He was the fourth of five children. He passed away on October 14th, 2022 in West Jordan, UT from Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS).

He graduated from Highland High School in 1970. Soon after, he married Janet Carlton with whom he had three children with, one deceased at birth. They later divorced. Jim worked for the US Postal Service for 38 years and retired in 2009. Most of his career was working in Labor Relations. He also worked at Meadow Brook Golf Course where he ran the Railway League for several years, and worked at his favorite golf course,

Mountain View.

In 2009 Jim married the love of his life, Denise (Boothe) Howard. They shared a wonderful life together. Jim had a huge impact on raising her daughter Courtney, they shared a very special bond. He was so grateful to be able to see both daughters get married and overjoyed to become a grandpa. He loved spending time with his two grandsons.

His motto to the end was, "We're just going to have fun with it'. Jim loved life and always wanted to make people laugh. He was a jokester with an amazing sense of humor. Jim loved woodworking, painting, darts and many other hobbies. If he wasn't taking your money playing poker, you could probably find him on the golf course. His passion was golf and loved playing golf with Denise. Together in 2013, they made his dream come true by starting a golf league, Saturday Morning Hackers at the Mountain View Golf Course. He loved running the league and all the great friendships that have been formed.

in May 2016, Jim had a lung transplant and was given a second chance at life. The family would like to thank the excellent care that Jim received from the University of Utah Lung Transplant team, including Dr. Cahill, Dr. Ramen and Dr. Morrell. Also Dr.

Russell and Dr. Monroe from the Huntsman Cancer Hospital and the many nurses and doctors behind the scenes.

Jim is survived by his wife Denise, daughter Carlle (Elljah) King, step-daughter Courtney (Dalton) Walters, and son Chad Hickok. Grandsons, Jacob and Jordan and granddaughter on the way. Siblings, Judy Yribar, Roger Hickok, Nancy (Raymond) Bingham, Rick (Barbara) Hickok and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son Jamie.

We love you Jim! Hit 'em long and straight!
