James (Jim) LeRoy Henricksen was born on November 23, 1937 to Miriam Jane Stephenson and Arthur Samuel Henricksen. The youngest of seven children, he spent his early years in Murray, Utah where he attended and graduated from Murray High School. On July 17, 1964, Jim married the love of his life, Donna, had six children, and recently celebrated 59 years together. Jim was a family man and maintained close relationships with his mom and siblings, caring for them in their later years. Jim also enjoyed many opportunities in his work and church life. He served in the United States Army, the Salt Lake City police force, worked in the grocery business, and as a realtor with Century21. He later drove for the Utah Transit Authority supporting people with disabilities on the Flex Trans buses in the Salt Lake Valley. He was also very proud to have been a driver for the Olympics in 2002 transporting royalty and others to the different venues. He served as a missionary for many years for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As a young man, he served in the Spanish American mission in Texas. He served with his wife, Donna, in the South Carolina Columbia mission, at the Conference Center as a service missionary, and as stake missionaries in the Salt Lake City East mission. He enjoyed serving in the Member Locator Department using his bilingual skills. He loved his Savior and the gospel of Jesus Christ and served in many callings throughout his life. He could often be found reading the scriptures or books written by church leaders. Jim enjoyed playing instruments, singing, loved jazz music, and played the piano by ear. He enjoyed traveling, playing games with his kids and grandkids, especially chess, and lounging in a hammock in the backyard. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, and two grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Donna Jean Larson, his children, Douglas (Kristine Scoville), Kristina (John Burger), Jason (Gail Braunersrither), Jared (Kirstyn Smith), Andrea (Thomas Newman), Russel (Nadia Burymski), 22 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. James LeRoy Henricksen died on July 19, 2023. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 2738 South Filmore Street, Salt Lake City, Utah.
