Jacob Hyrum Ezekiel Winterfeldt, born July 2nd, 2023, was a joy and pleasure to all who knew him before his passing on December 28th, 2023. “Hyrum”, as he is fondly known, is survived by his loving mother, Effie Winterfeldt, father, Jacob Winterfeldt, and older brother Porter Winterfeldt. He has also left behind a very large and supportive family, a circle of close friends, new friends, and caring acquaintances.
In life, the odds were medically stacked against Hyrum. He surprisingly overcame so many unthinkable obstacles, starting with his heart condition, and moving forward with several other challenges that met his little body. He fought hard and was given the title, “The Lion-Hearted Warrior”. And that he really was.
Hyrum’s light has left its deep mark on many lives. He was born into this world to change things for the better. His strong and encouraging spirit has created hope in humanity and a strength in the belief of God’s everlasting love. He truly enjoyed being read to, talked to, and being held as often as was medically possible. These are just a few of the many things he enjoyed during his short time here on Earth. His awareness and want for observing the world was only matched by his love of music. His mother, Effie, would often sing to him at his bedside, and music therapy was an event that was genuinely looked forward to.
Although his family and friends had passionately hoped he would get the chance to experience the world outside of Primary Children’s Hospital, they are deeply grateful for the time they had to know and love Hyrum.
