Jack Smith Green

Beloved dad, grandpa and cowboy at heart, Jack Smith Green passed away peacefully at his home on October 25, 2021 at the age of 77. Jack was born on February 6, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John (Jack) V. and Lillian W. Green. He graduated from Olympus High School and fell in love with anything having to do with sports. He found his favorites to be football, basketball, and baseball. After hanging up the jersey, he became an avid sports fan and had a great love of the New York Yankees.

Among many accomplishments throughout his life, Jack took great pride in his career as a banker for 44 years at Valley Bank, Bank One, and JP Morgan Chase. His dream after retirement was to build a ranch in Montana and ride into the sunset.

He loved being a father to John and Justin, and grandfather to six beautiful grandchildren Troy, Talia, Mia, Jackson, Lincoln, and Rockwell.

Jack showed his love by attending all of life’s monumental moments for his family and friends. He had a true gift of making those around him feel loved with his wit, thoughtful gifts and time well-spent. He will be Oh, the last goodbye’s the hardest one to say, and this is where the cowboy rides away. deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. We love you Dad/Grandpa Jack!

Jack is survived by his two sons, John and Justin (Kristie), 6 grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by his parents John (Jack) V. and Lillian W. Green, and siblings Carol Arveseth and Thomas Green.

A celebration of life will be held in Jack’s honor on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 12 noon at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, SLC UT with a viewing from 10am-11:45am. Jack will be laid to rest in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
