Jack Wesley Nelson

Dec 21, 1942 Aug 6, 2021

Jack Wesley Nelson, 78, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021, at his home in Sandy, of heart failure.

Jack was born, in Ephraim, Utah the second of four children to Bard Franklin Nelson and Lorraine Schultz, on December 21, 1942, (as he told it, in a little old shack by the railroad track). His family moved to the Salt Lake Area when he was young. He attended Whittier Elementary, Lincoln Jr. High and graduated from South High School. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to what was then the East Central States Mission. When he returned from his mission he attended Westminster College and graduated in 1969.

He married Judy Lyn Simpson, on March 3, 1967, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were sweethearts and best friends for 54 amazing years. They welcomed seven awesome children into their home who then added 20 fabulous grandchildren

Jack loved his family. He was a true outdoorsman and enjoyed sharing that with them. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and target shooting. He loved archery and for many years enjoyed that activity as a member of Beehive-Wasatch Bowhunters. He started golfing in his teenage years and in his retirement years absolutely loved that sport. He hated a week to go by without a game and even migrated to warmer destinations in the winter so he could claim he golfed in every month of the year.

He is survived by his loving wife; two daughters, Tina (William) Montoya and Jenifer (Cody) Morgan; Five sons, Jereme (Stacy), Todd (Mandy), Toby, Joshua (Cindy) and Timothy (Corinne); 20 grandchildren, Zach and Brianna Montoya; Kate, Ella, Ivy, Mary and Harry Morgan, Colby, Dalon, Weston, Kassie, Chance, Jon, Alex, David, Hayden, Conner, JR, Maezy and Emmett Nelson; brothers and Ron and Kurt.

The family would like to thank Bridgette from IHC Hospice for her kind and loving care.
