Our beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, J Kent Williams, passed away November 13, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Kent was born November 23, 1933 in Ogden Utah to Andrew K. Williams and Norma Sheffield Williams.
He was raised in Southern California, where he attended Inglewood High School, graduating in 1952. He enjoyed playing baseball, softball, and loved cars.
On April 8th, 1954 he married the love of his life, Gailine, in the Salt Lake Temple for time and eternity. Together they raised 6 children.
In 1969 they moved their family to Centerville, Utah.
Kent was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in many church positions, but his favorite was as a Boy Scouts of America leader, and served for decades in troops in California and Utah.
Dads’ work ethic was second to none. He retired from Young Electric Sign Company after 33 years with the company.
Dad loved driving. His’ and Moms’ Sunday drives sometimes lasted for days. As his children we have many memories of Sunday drives, most fun, but some terrifying, as he liked to find roads that to this day we aren’t sure were real roads. Along with his sweetheart, in retirement, they traveled the country in their RV, and worked as campground hosts in the summers.
Dad was an avid lover of sports, and was a life long fan of the Utah Jazz, BYU & USC football, and the Dodgers. He also loved the outdoors, camping and hunting with sons and sons-in-law. He also loved playing poker, the TV show Mash, but most of all he loved his family!
Kent is survived by his six children; Terri, Lori Duncan (Kim), David (Cathy), Jeanette Bytendorp, Andrew (Sarah), Mark (Brittany), 21 Grand children, and 26 great grand children.
He was preceded in death by his greatest love and soulmate, Gailine, son-in-law, Douglas Bytendorp, his parents and brother, Lamar Williams.
Memorial services will be held December 3, 2022 at the Bountiful Tabernacle at 3:00 pm, 55 South Main Street, Bountiful.
