Ila Jean Dickerson, loving wife, mother, grandma, and friend to many, passed away surrounded by family at the age of 83 on August 5th, 2021. She was born on October 21st, 1937 in American Fork Utah and grew up in Pleasant Grove. She married her loving husband, Kay, on September 6th, 1957 and was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on February 25th, 1959. After which they raised their four kids in Sandy. Ila was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many church callings including many years serving in the temple with her husband.
She loved spending time with her family and throwing parties. She always looked forward to visits and sleepovers from her grandchildren and would happily whip up her mush with humps and eggo waffles. She was also known for her quick wit and way with words whether it be scrabble, crosswords, or writing poems for her family. When she wasn’t partying with her family she could be found making amazing food in the kitchen, fixing everyone’s clothes, or knitting and crocheting. She loved going camping and being outside. Ila loved Coca Cola so much that she even put up a Christmas Coke tree every year dedicated to her favorite drink. It doesn’t matter what she was doing, she was happy as long as family was around.
She is survived by her husband Kay; children Jan (Dave) Clough, Bryan (Tammie) Dickerson, Sheri (John) Dennison and Jill (Greg) Goold; as well as 10 grandkids, 16 great grandkids and her sister Earleen.
We want to offer a sincere thanks to all who gave care and helped her near the end of her life. She will be greatly missed by many!
