I will not find the words to describe the impact you had on my life. The things you taught me through your actions. Most of things didn't sink in right away, rather later in life when I was mature enough to understand things such as patience and respect. As I grew older I liked referring to you as my step father less and less. I felt, and feel that it diminished your role in my life, and the relationship we built as father and son. There was such a feeling of pride for me when you would introduce me to people as your son, and sometimes "This is my boy, Kevin". Even though I thought I was a man, not a boy it didn't bother me.

My favorite memory of you, and quite frankly one of the best moments of my life was one summer day in the mid or late 90's. I don't remember the date as well as I do the events of that day. I had been putting siding on the garage you were building that day. At the end of that day, when I was leaving you put your arm around my shoulder and told me that you loved me. I got in my car and drove home, crying most of the way. It meant so much to me, I will never forget it. I love you Hughie. Thank you for being such a great example. A great father to me, and grandfather to my children.
