Herminio Huizar, age 81, passed away on August 29, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born on May 30, 1944, in Agua Gorda, Jalisco, Mexico, where his journey began and family traditions first took root.

Herminio married Silveria Luna, with whom he had 13 children: Martha (Jose Luis), Jose Alberto (Magdalena), Estela (Juan), Victor (Sonia), Jorge (Rocio), Guadalupe (Rafael), Anabel (Gilberto), Gustavo (Marlin), Veronica (Alejandro), Uvaldo, Esperanza (Eric), Monica (Humberto), and Herminio Jr. (Yasmin), as well as 35 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren who will carry his memory forward with love. He later married Emiliana Huizar in Salt Lake City, Utah, and eventually settled in Alamosa, Colorado.

He is also survived by his siblings Antonio, Beatriz, Carmen, Rosario, and Enedina, who will remember him with deep affection. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Silveria Luna; his parents, Pedro and Melenciana Huizar; and his siblings, Aurelia and Alfredo.

Herminio’s life was one of resilience and strength. He will be remembered as a father, grandfather, brother, and husband whose legacy lives on through the many lives he touched. His memory will continue in the laughter, traditions, and stories carried forward by his children and grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with a Rosary at 10:00 a.m. at 257 N 700 W, Salt Lake City, UT 84116. A viewing and Rosary will be held at the Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 6 pm, 6500 S Redwood Rd, West Jordan, UT 84123. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebrate the life of Herminio Huizar.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the prayers, love, and support received during this time. Though Herminio is no longer with us, his presence will remain in the hearts of all who loved him.
