Heidi Renae Theobald

May 28, 1960 Apr 27, 2025

Heidi, age 64, passed away peacefully in her home Sunday evening, surrounded by family and her Great Dane, Lotte, cuddled next to her on her bed. Her life came to an end after a courageous two-year battle with breast cancer.

Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, Heidi graduated from Highland High School before stepping into her life’s work. She successfully operated her family’s business, Salt Lake Chrome, for over 40 years. Though she jokingly referred to her education as the "School of Hard Knocks," Heidi was one of the wisest people you could ever meet—grounded, intuitive, and endlessly curious about others and the world around her.

Heidi was many things—a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, a fierce friend, and the heart of every room she entered. She was passionate about animals, gardening, flowers, quilting, horseback riding, and traveling the world. But more than anything, she was passionate about her people and her animals. She had a talent for making others feel seen, heard, and cared for. She was salt of the earth, with grit and grace in equal measure. Her greatest pride was raising her children and watching them become not only adults, but her dear friends.

Heidi is survived by her husband of 25 years, Charlie Fricks; her children Taylor (Kelsey), Cali (Andrew), Anthony (Jessica), and Lindsay (Jason); a cherished circle of 6 grandchildren Kiera, Sawyer, Rylee, Rowan, Jones, Reese; extended family, including, Larry Reid, and so many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Keith and Barbara Theobald and her beloved grandson, Wyatt Fricks.

Heidi will be remembered for her wisdom, kindness, quick wit, and her one-of-a-kind sayings—especially her favorite reminders: "It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice" and "People don’t remember what you say, but they remember how you make them feel."

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens May 6th with the memorial service beginning at 11:00 am, followed by the celebration of life at 12:00 pm. All who loved her are welcome. Optional attire: Bright colors per Heidi’s demeanor.

The family would like to express deep gratitude to all who supported Heidi through her illness—your love and care carried her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Heidi’s memory to Best Friends Animal Society, a cause close to her heart.
