Kelly was born the fifth son, first of twin boys, to Don and Helen Lawrence. In 1953 his family moved to Grantsville, Utah, where he enjoyed a wonderful childhood. In 1963 his family moved to Granger, Utah, where Kelly attended Valley Junior High and later graduated from Granger High.

Kelly worked at The Green Sheet newspaper, stuffing ads in high school. He worked in the Printing Services at the University of Utah, where he started his career in printing. He later worked at Legislative Printing before starting his own printing business, Valley Fair Printing, in 1976. Kelly ran his printing business for 46 years and recently finished and delivered his last job. He enjoyed the lifelong friendships of those who worked with him and his many customers.

Kelly and Rita Ann Randall married in 1976, and they made their home in Taylorsville, Utah. Kelly and Rita have eight talented children and ten wonderful grandchildren. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a strong testimony of his Savior. What a sweet and joyous reunion Kelly has with his son, Joe, and his parents and siblings, who preceded him in death.

Kelly was a devoted husband and adoring father who loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed supporting his children's many different interests and accomplishments and carried on that same enjoyment with his grandchildren. His favorite place was around Lost Creek reservoir with his family. He spent many days wandering the trails and enjoying the beauty of nature.

Kelly had a talent for seeing the hidden potential that others may have overlooked. He welcomed these challenges and researched and applied this new knowledge to bring different projects back to working order. During the pandemic, Kelly took an interest in grandfather clocks. He studied, purchased, cleaned, We love you. and adjusted five clocks to working order to where now the house is filled with the clock's chimes.
