Gilberto Gaertner passed away at the age of 79 on May 5, 2022, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born on November 14, 1942, in Castro, Parana, Brazil, to Evaldo Gaertner and Dinorah Contador.

He married Izaltina Zanetti on February 4, 1961, in Curitiba, Parana, Brazil. The two were later sealed in the Sao Paulo Temple on March 31, 1979. He was the father of six: Gilbert, Margareth, Elizabeth, Roberto, Bernadete, and Kelly. He had 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He served three LDS full-time service missions with his wife: one at the Porto Alegre Temple, one at the Campinas Temple, and one at the Recife/Curitiba Temple. He was a master jeweler, loved classical music, traveling, fishing, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his six children and 18 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and four siblings.

Funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123 with a viewing prior beginning at 12:00 PM and ending at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at the same location.
