Gerard Earl Morgan III was born on June 6, 1944 in Evanston Illinois to Gerard Earl Morgan Jr. and Mary Riddell Morgan. He went to school at Glenbrook High and the University of Utah. He played football for two years. He also graduated from Trade Tech in Auto mechanics.

He got married to Julie Skinner and had one child, Eric Morgan. He served in the Air Force for four years working with the nuclear weapons specifically. He later divorced and then married Karen Jean Staten Morgan. They had three children together, Mindy Merin, Scott Veral, and Michelle Mary Morgan. Other survivors are his grandchildren Ben and Chris who are the kids of Eric Morgan, along with Max, Drake, Baylee, and Zander; kids of Michelle and Eric Smith. Along with another child Mason Morgan, who is the child of Mindy Morgan.

Some of his hobbies were skiing, auto racing, rockhound camping, and teaching guitar, along with many others.
